Building a Game Room Part 1
While we are busily planning for the move, many hundreds of miles away in a far off place called Portland, work has begun on what will one day, very soon, be an entire room dedicated to the glory of gaming in general, and tabletop wargaming in particular. I've always wanted a dedicated game room, but have never had the space, but the new house has a basement, and that basement has the space I need! Here it is:
Not a bad space at all, but not really optimum. First of all, there's a kitchen in it. This isn't the main kitchen, it was built specifically for the basement as a potential small apartment, but the only cooking a gamer requires is the heating of Hot Pockets in a microwave, so this is really overkill. For a small pittance some large men with large hammers were invited to come over and knock it down. And so they did.
The sink, refrigerator, and back counter are useful for drinks and aforementioned Hot Pocket creation machine, so they'll stay.
Problem is, now we've got a gap in the carpet and all kinds of not good things going on with the walls. We've got plans for all of that, but I'll cover those as they happen.
(I don't actually eat Hot Pockets)
