Building a Game Room Part 3

If you remember back to my first post you might recall the hole left in the carpet by the kitchen demo, so something needed to be done about the flooring.

Again, with the big strong men, this time to take the carpet away. Here is what the floor looks like without the carpet.

The grey stuff that looks like wet concrete is, you guessed it, wet concrete! Apparently basement floors are all kinds of not level, so we needed the concrete to smooth some things out. We also decided it would be easier to just put the flooring over the tile rather than pull the tile up.

We aren't really fans of carpet in basements. While an inexpensive flooring option, and easy on the feet, it's also an option that absorbs and holds water. We've never had a basement before, but as we understand, sometimes they get water in them.

We wanted a new floor that wouldn't be too expensive, is impervious to water, and looks nice. Well, we got the last two. We went with LVT, which stands for Luxury Vinyl Tiles. They go down as tiles and can be pulled up easier than most flooring, are waterproof, and look nice. They aren't top dollar in cost, but not exactly cheap either. We went with fake wood, that closely matches the real wood floors in the rest of the house. Here are the results.

There are a few issues with the levelness of the floor that need to be worked out, but overall we're very happy with the results. OK, I think the next thing is going to be walls, then the final work on the lighting and the room will be ready for great piles of nerd stuff!
